Baptism

Parents of younger children and those with new babies should contact Father Ray to arrange the Baptism of their children.

First Forgiveness and First Holy Communion

Baptised, Catholic children are eligible to prepare for receiving their First Forgiveness (reconciliation) and First Holy Communion in Year 3, in the Summer Term. The children follow a carefully prepared programme, led by the RE lead, Year 3 teacher and Father Ray. The class teacher is the first point of contact for parents who wish their children to prepare to receive the sacraments. School works with the parish closely throughout the sacramental programme. Children preparing for the first sacraments spend considerable time developing a deeper understanding of their faith and what it means to be Catholic. We begin by having a Mass of Enrolment with the parish community. We also ask for the parish to pray for the children and support them during their time of preparation.

Prior to making their First Holy Communion, pupils and their parents participate in a day of spiritual reflection at church with Father Ray and members of the parish team. This is a wonderful day, in the presence of God, preparing for and celebrating the children’s next step in their faith journey.
